Hiking Backpack

Natasha Ewing, community liaison officer with BC Parks, models the hiking backpack. The hiking kits come with essential gear for a day in the mountains and can be borrowed by anyone with a BC library card.

The hiking kits, created in partnership with BC Parks, are meant to help get community members outside in a safe way, while providing some of the basic gear needed. From headlamps and hiking poles to a first aid kit and trip packing guide, the library is your one stop shop for summer adventures!

The backpack is well equipped for 2 people to enjoy a short stroll or a full day hike, and it can be checked out for free with your Kimberley Library card for a 1-week loan.
The kit includes: 45L Salomon brand backpack, an emergency bivvy sack, 2 headlamps, 2 sets trekking poles, Fire Starter Kit, First Aid Kit, compass, laminated packing guide and Ziploc bag of manuals.
In addition to the hiking backpack, the Kimberley Library has several local hiking books with maps and information on popular hiking trails in the area.
